Milkweed critters

The firefly is Pyropyga, I think. Probably Pyropyga minuta. I have no idea what kind of fly that is. Lots and lots of insects are deriving something useful from the milkweed. It's very popular as a hangout spot.

Culver's Root

My Culver's root is blooming, and this tiny bee seems to like it. I didn't notice the small pink caterpillar on the flower spike in the background until after I took the photo.

House portrait

18 x 28 inches-- my biggest ink house portrait to date.

Photuris firefly

Trying to identify lightning bugs. This one's in the Photuris versicolor complex-- I don't know the exact species. I've learned that determining the species within the Photuris genus is often challenging, even for non-beginners (I just started trying to learn a little about them.)

Stinkhorns

They're back. More than last year.

Parklands

Rainy evening, hardly any people, but tons of foxglove beardtongue.
