Juncos, song sparrows

I noticed juncos in my yard on Nov. 8, and saw song sparrows foraging today (song sparrows are allegedly here year around, but I only notice them in winter, so maybe my neighborhood ones do come from the north, since they are in fact migratory.)

Twin Peaks Jack-o'-lantern

I really like how this one turned out.

(buckeyes)

Some treasure I found hiking a couple of weeks ago. Aren't they gorgeous?

Phone

Just now trying to figure out how to post a blog entry from my new phone.

I've had plenty of pictures I wanted to post, but couldn't.

Still trying to figure it out.

Maybe I'm out of photo space.

Neighborhood chicken

I was surprised to see some chickens under the hedge next door. I gave a little help to the lady two doors up, shooing them back to her yard.

Partridge pea

I was ambivalent about them at first, but I'm now pretty fond of the partridge pea plants in my yard.

Kard Kombat

Yesterday I got to try out a card-driven combat game a friend developed. It was a lot of fun, and I'm impressed by how well it played.

An American snout

I couldn't figure out what kind of butterfly this was until I Googled "butterfly with long snout," and by golly, I found it fast then.

Their host plant is hackberry.

7 Wonders

My first time playing (as it was for everyone present). It was heavier than everyone else was used to, but everyone pretty much got it as we played.

Pearl crescent

This pearl crescent was relaxing in the shade of my side yard before I mowed this morning.
