8 or 9 of us tonight. I think we must have played 10 games. Lots of fun.
This blog is not about knitting or sports, and offers neither facts nor opinions about G. I. Joe toys.

...and Catchphrase
Addendum to my previous post : We also played electronic Catchphrase (I think?). It was quite entertaining although that's another style of game that I feel like I keep getting worse at. The laughter more than made up for any frustration.
Game Night--Deception: Murder In Hong Kong, and Dutch Blitz
Tonight I had friends over for dinner. I fixed soup and bread and had a few other things, and my friends brought some delicious stuff, too.
We started games with Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. For the first few games (the first time any of us had played), we had a near-maximum player count at 11. This was pretty difficult. It was hard to keep an eye on so many cards, and hard to follow so much discussion. Still, it was fun. I enjoyed it, and I think everyone else liked it. After a while we were down to 7 players and it seemed more manageable.
Then we played Dutch Blitz (pictured). I'm awful at speed games, and I came in last. I did improve as I went along. The yelling that goes on around the table is the best part.
I'm glad I had people over, but I'm feeling a bit tapped out now.

Ironweed, wingstem
Ironwood and wingstem are blooming in the woods behind my office building. I took these photos on a lunch break walk yesterday. Today we finally got some rain after a long dry spell.

Board game night at Heine Bros.
A friend suggested meeting up for games at a coffee shop, and I'm glad I was able to do so. We played Codenames and Dutch Blitz, which were fun, but it was even more fun to talk with friends. One really delightful thing about growing older is spending time with friends' kids (who are becoming friends in their own right, I guess). They've always all been smart and funny and interesting, and they just keep getting more so.

Hornet on fennel
Fennel drops lots of seeds, which sprout everywhere, making it quite invasive. However, the seeds are fun for baking, and the flowers bring throngs of bees, wasps, and butterflies. And it's large, interesting, and pretty. So it's kind of nice. I'll just try to harvest seeds, and then cut it back, before it drops seeds all over.
