Juncos, song sparrows

I noticed juncos in my yard on Nov. 8, and saw song sparrows foraging today (song sparrows are allegedly here year around, but I only notice them in winter, so maybe my neighborhood ones do come from the north, since they are in fact migratory.)

I was surprised to see some chickens under the hedge next door. I gave a little help to the lady two doors up, shooing them back to her yard.

Yesterday I got to try out a card-driven combat game a friend developed. It was a lot of fun, and I'm impressed by how well it played.

I couldn't figure out what kind of butterfly this was until I Googled "butterfly with long snout," and by golly, I found it fast then.
