Yard salad

Store-bought red lettuce supplemented with violets, hairy bittercress, and a few dandelion leaves from my yard. It was pretty good.

Unearthed cicada

Dug up while moving some coneflowers. The reddish eyes make me suspect it's one of the 17 year cicadas. 

Winter-sown seeds

I checked the containers in my back yard again today. Previously I had seen the pearly everlasting germinating, and a couple of days ago, the liatris. Yesterday I saw the royal catchfly. Today I saw the false sunflower, and finally, the Asclepias syriacus. Very exciting!

Dominion

Jennifer and I played two games of Dominion last weekend. This game remains my favorite.

Splendor

I've had the game for months, but only a few days ago did I finally play Splendor for the first time. It's been a very popular game since it's release six years ago. It was pretty easy to learn, but a challenge to go against my daughter.  She beat me 17 - 11.

I particularly like the chunky poker chip tokens, which I expected to be cardboard.

Gutter ice

My gutters are thick with ice. I expect tomorrow's thawing will be hours and hours of noisy dripping.

I noticed neighbors trying to get their car out of their driveway late last evening, so I went over to help. Then I took this photo.

The forecast was for 6-9 inches, but since we got a lot of sleet and then a dry slot (oh how I hate those dry slots!), we ended up with maybe 4 inches of combined sleet and snow on my end of town.
