I finally finished my second reduction cut linoleum block print, except for the actual printing process of the remaining 15 or so to which I still need to apply the black.
This is done with water based Speedball inks, three colors, on white paper. 6 x 9 inches.
I'm happy with the results.
Well, I'm not an expert but it looks very nice to me!

ReplyDeleteI think the final result is fantastic. I agree with Diane's comments on the forum, especially about watching those lines that all end at exactly the same place. I have caught myself doing that so many times, it comes from carving a vertical across the cut marks with your gouge, and I know that when I'm doing it, I just think I'm cleaning things up, but it ends up looking far too rigid and doesn't quite read properly.

You must invest in some better paper. Honestly, you'll be very disappointed in a few years that you ran this edition on computer paper, and wish that you'd splurged just a little for some proper printmaking paper first. I speak from past experience. So before you go trying any further masterpieces, do yourself a huge favour and investment in your skill, and buy some appropriate paper, it's so worth it.

Thanks so much for your comments, Amie. I made a few small improvements to the background "noise" lines last night. I really, really want better paper and ink, but I'll just have to improve my materials a little bit at a time.
