Here's your fun fact for the day:  Up until close to the year 1600, the English language didn't have a distinct word for the color orange.

  1. So...they used the color of the fruit to name the color orange? I can't think of any basic color that is named the same as the object that it's colored of... for... you know what I mean. We can't count the new Crayola colors like Sunflower or Pink Petunia, etc. Orange you glad they came up with a name for this color?

  2. On the plus side, there are lots of words that rhyme with orange. For instance...ummm...
Also, I like the Demetri Martin bit about food names: "That's orange, so we'll call it an orange." Then, upon reaching carrots-"ummm, crap! We already used orange."
