Today we are twice as far into November as we were yesterday. At the present rate, it will be Xmas sometime on Monday afternoon.

  1. In 1830, there were only 23 miles of railroad tracks laid in the United States. By 1840, there were 2,808 miles of railroad tracks. This exponential rate of doubling explains why railroad tracks now cover the entire surface of our country.
