Here's a small section of old map compared with a recent satellite image. It looks like in 1912 there was a building next to a pond in what is now a vacant field. The field is now reported to be caught up in lawsuit between a bank and a developer; it was slated to be condominiums until the recession hit. It's been untouched for years. Sounds like a good place to go detecting to me.

Cannot figure out where this is from the picture. What road is the pond and house on? Intersecting road?
Mark, I think we were checking in the wrong place. I think the pond was close to the road where the ditch was, by the car, and the house lot had been paved over.
I really don't think so. I think the triangular area of trees was the pond, and the squarish area next to it where I started looking first was the house location. I could be wrong, though!
